3. Workspaces

A workspace is the isolated unit that owns your accounts, categories, transactions and tags. A user can belong to multiple workspaces (e.g. Household, Business), and every membership is bound to a role.

Creating a workspace

From the landing page after sign-in, or under /app/workspaces, click New workspace. Only the name is required; you can change the currency later.

Roles

Role What they can do
Owner Everything — delete, manage members, settings
Admin Manage members, settings, edit anyone's items
Member Manage their own transactions, categories, budgets, tags
Viewer Read-only (lists, details, exports)

Inviting members

In the workspace settings, enter the invitee's email and pick a role. They accept the invite from their own account.

Switching workspaces

The workspace picker in the top navigation switches between your workspaces at any time; the selection persists in the session.

Accounts and starting balance

After creating a workspace, open Accounts to add your real-world accounts (current, cash, savings…) with their starting balance. Transactions will adjust these balances.

Planned transaction form
This page is used to define regular income, expense, or transfer rules that either generate transactions automatically or create planned occurrences for your review.
8. Budgets
A *budget* defines a cap (or target) for one category over a period of time. CaeliBudget continuously shows where you stand against it.
