4. Accounts
An account represents a concrete money-holding instrument inside a workspace: bank account, cash, credit card, savings, etc. Every transaction is bound to exactly one account (a transfer touches two — source and destination).
Creating an account
Open the Accounts menu and click + New account.
- Name (required) — appears in the transaction form and in lists.
- Type — choose one of:
| Type | Use for |
|---|---|
| Bank | Current / checking account |
| Cash | Wallet, household cash |
| Credit card | Negative balances allowed |
| Savings | Savings or term deposit |
| Investment | Securities, funds |
| Other | Anything that doesn't fit above |
- Initial balance — transactions change the current balance starting from this value.
- Active — inactive accounts do not appear in the new-transaction dropdown but stay attached to past transactions.
Current balance
The Current balance updates automatically every time a transaction is created, edited or deleted. It is computed as initial balance + income − expense ± transfers, stored in cents and formatted on display.
Last checked
The Last checked field is a reminder of when you last reconciled this account against an actual bank statement or your wallet. It is informational only and does not affect the balance.
Deletion
An account can only be deleted if no transaction references it. If transactions exist, either set the account inactive to hide it, or delete / reassign the transactions first.
